ABOUT

Making Music On Purpose.

Angelo Natalie’s passion for songwriting began in the 7th grade when he wrote “I’m Lonely” just after his girlfriend broke up with him. He sang and played drums in rock bands throughout high school leading him to major in music education at Edinboro State College (now PennWest Edinboro). During that time he also played four+ nights per week in the house-band at an after-hours club in his hometown of Erie, PA.

He moved to Akron, OH and joined an originals band with professional management. While living in Akron, the death of a close friend led Angelo to a dramatic, personal conversion experience. He began writing songs about his new-found faith, quit the Akron band, moved back to Erie and formed a progressive, gospel-rock group called Clockwise. The group recorded one album produced by Grammy Award winning guitarist Al Perkins. Seven of the nine titles were composed by Angelo.

When Clockwise disbanded in 1980 Angelo formed a jingle company called Buon Natalie Music. Over the next two years, he produced enough local spots in Erie to compile a demo “reel”. In 1982 he went on a job interview at Hummingbird Productions, the leading ad-music house in Nashville at the time. As part of the interview, Angelo was asked to write a 30 second piece for Purina’s Bonz dog treats. His jingle was presented to the ad agency along with those from Hummingbird’s staff writers. Angelo’s idea was selected, it was demoed the very next day and went on to be Hummingbird’s biggest national spot that year. He continued to work for Hummingbird in Nashville before he was asked to run their New York office, scoring spots for Cabbage Patch Kids, Pepsi, Dodge and Pizza Hut.

After five years with Hummingbird, Angelo went freelance, once again doing business as Buon Natalie Music where his clientele has included Pizza Hut, A&E, AMC and Nickelodeon. The producers of Barney & Friends used over 30 of his songs in the PBS TV series as well as on audio recordings that continue to be streamed internationally.  Angelo’s song, “It’s C-C-Cold Burr” was performed on national television at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2004. He was the primary songwriter for the video series BOZ: The Green Bear Next Door produced by former Barney executives.

Angelo is a singer-songwriter who also specializes in leading worship. His growing collection of original praise songs are singable, memorable and unique, flowing from a lifestyle of worship sharpened by many years in congregations both small and large, extemporaneous and liturgical.

He has been the Music Director at Living Hope Community Church in Old Greenwich, CT since 1991. The Sunday morning setlist often features his originals. From 2004-2016 he was the Teen Mass Music Director at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, CT where he composed Mass settings and responsorial psalms.

In the spring of 2023, Angelo graduated summa cum laude from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Music: Audio & Music Production Option. He is now focusing his energy on publishing his song catalogue comprised mostly of songs for children and worship.
